# About the crown

> About glp1 king and the crown — glp1 king is an editorial research site about comparative wins and the improvements on both sides, beginning with the SURPASS-2 diabetes trial.

A comparative win can be clear while the runner-up still has an achievement worth discussing. SURPASS-2 gives the crown that complication.

## The temptation to crown a winner

“King” tempts me to declare a winner and dismiss the rest. [SURPASS-2 gives tirzepatide the comparative win on glycated haemoglobin and body weight](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34170647/) over semaglutide 1 mg in adults with type 2 diabetes over 40 weeks. The semaglutide group also had a reduction in glycated haemoglobin.

The runner-up makes this contest interesting to me. Tirzepatide’s superiority deserves a plain statement, and so does the improvement in the group it beat. A ranking compresses that account into an order of finish. The trial contains more to discuss.

That is the argument I want the crown to carry: a winner’s margin and the runner-up’s improvement belong in the same account. From there, the other studies widen the discussion to weight loss, clinical events and adverse findings. Each result has to retain the particular comparison that produced it.

## Editorial purpose

The published research at GLP-1 King invites an argument I’m glad to have. The name is the title of the site, not a professional title for me. I’m a reader scrutinising comparisons, without claiming any clinical credentials.

The site is not a business, a medical practice or a shop. It offers no prescribing, dispensing or appointment service. Nothing here is medical advice, and an essay cannot decide whether a medicine is appropriate for an individual.

I’m drawn to comparisons that remain recognisable after their conditions have been stated. Applauding a winner leaves plenty of room for questions. The possibility of a better experiment is part of the appeal.

## A cardiovascular rematch

A direct contest between medicines on cardiovascular events would be especially satisfying to me. The [direct weight-loss comparison](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40353578/) and the [placebo-controlled SELECT trial](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37952131/) provide different answers; together they sharpen the question rather than finish it.

The seat can stay empty until a source answers the actual contest. That has nothing to do with being unimpressed by the findings already here. It gives each of them enough room to mean what it means.
