> glp1 king study list — The glp1 king study list: the direct tirzepatide comparison, placebo-controlled weight trials, cardiovascular and renal studies, and a safety review.

Body weight, event risk and symptoms: the quantities behind the percentages matter as much as the size of the figures.

## Direct comparisons

[SURPASS-2](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34170647/) supplies the opening comparison in adults with type 2 diabetes. [SURMOUNT-5](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40353578/) supplies the tirzepatide-versus-semaglutide obesity weight-loss comparison examined on the [direct-contest page](/head-to-head). I’d read those shared-trial comparisons alongside results with other opponents or outcomes.

## Placebo-controlled weight trials

[STEP 1](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33567185/) supplies the weight-loss comparison at 68 weeks. [STEP 5](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36216945/) adds the sustained result over 104 weeks. These are separate placebo-controlled trials.

## Outcome trials

[SELECT](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37952131/) and [FLOW](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38785209/) anchor the cardiovascular and renal discussion. [STEP-HFpEF](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37622681/) examines heart-failure-related symptoms and physical limitations. The populations and outcomes deserve attention alongside each result.

## Adverse findings

[SUSTAIN-6](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27633186/) puts the cardiovascular benefit and diabetic-retinopathy complication result in the same trial. The [semaglutide safety review](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34305810/) broadens the discussion to gastrointestinal effects, biliary disease and less settled cancer signals.
